It’s been a tough day at work. I was trying to do the right thing and got hung out to dry by my ex bosses for it. While my current bosses are more understanding, it’s not a nice feeling to have to defend yourself. I was glad when the work day was over and I could get home to see my wife and baby boy. I’m hoping things get better in the next 2 days.
Anyway, the CDA dollar-for-dollar matching of $3,000 has been credited last week. The next thing to look forward to is the Cash Gift disbursement of $1,500 when my baby boy turns 6 months old. We have also been receiving ang baos from colleagues, friends and family. All the cash amounts are credited into our bank accounts as the parents.
Which means our baby boy’s bank account balance (tied to my wife’s name) is $0. And it will continue to remain $0 until he grows older. Not sure why he needs savings at the moment. After all, we are managing all of his personal finances and spending all of these cash inflows on him.
Being busier at work means it’s more difficult for me to take leave to accompany my wife for our baby boy’s visits to the paediatrician and polyclinic. Especially the latter because that’s for his 1 month Hep B 2nd dose vaccination. And we have not been to a polyclinic for a long time.
My wife found the integrated medical services and waiting times of the polyclinic decent when it comes to dealing with our baby boy. A jaundice test could even be done on the spot at the polyclinic with the results released in half an hour. Just to make sure jaundice is not an issue for him any more.
In the end, my wife paid $14 from the CDA for the whole thing at the polyclinic, which was a pleasant surprise. CDA and medical subsidies are useful yeah. I’m sure it would have been more expensive if we had done the vaccination and jaundice test at the paediatrician.
It’s good that we can claim both his paediatrician and polyclinic visits under our corporate medical insurance for our baby boy as a dependent. So the difference in costs doesn’t really matter at this time for us. But if we end up having to cover the costs ourselves, it could add up quickly.
