I spent some time looking through our monthly investment plans and decided to make further reallocations. Previously, I amended the OCBC Blue Chip Investment Plan (BCIP) to start investing into the Lion-OCBC Securities Hang Seng Tech ETF (HST) from this month onwards. The funds were drawn from the reduced allocations to Nikko AM STI ETF (G3B) and Lion-Phillip REIT ETF (CLR).
This time round, I have reduced the allocations to Nikko AM STI ETF (G3B) and Nikko AM Straits Trading Asia ex Japan REIT ETF (CFA) in the POSB Invest Saver. I will be diverting these funds to OCBC RoboInvest, which I am in the process of setting up a few thematic portfolios. This differentiates the investing strategy taken by OCBC RoboInvest from our current robo advisors – StashAway and DBS DigiPortfolio. By choosing the themes of the OCBC RoboInvest portfolios we want to invest in, we are applying active investing but in a passive way.
These are the OCBC RoboInvest thematic portfolios we are planning to set up by end of the month.
- Future World Portfolio – Provides diversified exposure to emerging themes that are likely to develop into major investment themes in the future.
- Gen-Z Winners Portfolio – Provides diversified exposure to sectors that are likely to benefit from spending by Gen-Z generation. The portfolio is currently tilted towards internet, video-gaming, online retail and digital payments.
- China Growth Portfolio – Provides diversified exposure to Chinese equities. The portfolio is currently tilted towards Chinese Consumers, Chinese Tech sector, China Internet Sector and non-state-owned enterprises.
I’m using the minimum investment amounts to set up the portfolios i.e. US$1,000, US$1,000 and US$100 respectively. I will also be Dollar-Cost Averaging (DCA) into them every month. Using funds that I have reallocated here from POSB Invest Saver. As I have mentioned before, I intend to raise the rate of increase of our exposure to global equities and lower the rate of increase of our exposure to Singapore equities. A good time to start now since it’s the beginning of a new year.
Anyway, I have just set up the OCBC RoboInvest Future World Portfolio using the OCBC Bank online banking. Seems like a smooth process since I’m an existing OCBC Bank account holder. Would like to see more of what the user interface, top-up (additional investment) and other features look like before setting up the other portfolios. By the way, this is not a sponsored post and there is no referral program for OCBC RoboInvest. I’m just writing about my experience as I slowly change my investing approach to better position ourselves for the future.
