Setting up more OCBC RoboInvest portfolios

03.14.2021 by Finance Smiths //

Back in mid Jan 2021, I set up the OCBC RoboInvest Future World portfolio – Provides diversified exposure to emerging themes that are likely to develop into major investment themes in the future.

I was supposed to set up more OCBC RoboInvest portfolios by end Jan 2021 but I decided to take my time and wait for a dip in the stock markets before I do so. This happened recently and I went ahead to set up the following OCBC RoboInvest portfolios:

  • Gen-Z Winners – Provides diversified exposure to sectors that are likely to benefit from spending by Gen-Z generation. The portfolio is currently tilted towards internet, video-gaming, online retail and digital payments.
  • Aggressive – Aims to deliver long-term capital appreciation through a significant allocation into equities that is globally diversified. The portfolio has some exposure to gold for diversification purposes.
  • China Growth – Provides diversified exposure to Chinese equities. The portfolio is systematically rebalanced to provide targeted exposure to specific themes in the Chinese market. Currently, the portfolio is tilted towards Chinese Consumers, Chinese Tech sector, China Internet Sector and non-state-owned enterprises.

This automated robo-advisor thematic investing and my recent manual investments into technology stocks and cryptos means that we now have a sizeable position in this area. I feel that our investment portfolio is more balanced in terms of its asset allocation now. Previously, it was lacking in technology stocks and cryptos that caused my returns to lag. More importantly, we were missing out on a key growth sector and this would have positioned us badly for the future.

I didn’t rotate our value stocks into growth stocks because I wanted to maintain and build on the positions we have in both areas. That’s what the cash balance is for – as a hedge against volatility and opportunistic investing. Plus I like how the correlation between value stocks and growth stocks seem to have reduced, offering greater diversification within our investment portfolio.

Hi, I don’t think there’s a way to automate the funds transfers into OCBC RoboInvest for investments. Similar to DBS DigiPortfolio. You have to manually click on Invest More for OCBC RoboInvest and Top Up for DBS DigiPortfolio to transfer funds in for investments.
